Can you register and pay in advance to compete?

For SCCA hosted events, you can register online but there is no fee to compete. SCCA simply asks for a donation when you arrive. A good portion of the proceeds are donated to their charity of the quarter.

How do I advertise my event on the SCCAChili.com website?

The FREE way to advertise on our site is to sign up as a host and create your event. Your event will be live on our website once our admin approves your event and will be promoted to all of our subscribers and our Facebook followers. Including as many details as possible in the name and description of your event will help to bring you to the top of search results such as Google. What does it mean to be a HOST?

This means you are the organizer of the event. You book the venue, you set up registration and you create the event. You can sign up as a host member on our website and add your event and we will help you promote your event. You can add registration links and any other information you want to share about your event.

What does it mean to be a Member of the SCCA website?

You can list events as a Host Member, you will be notified of opportunities to register to compete as a Competitor Member and you will be notified of Chili Competition events all over the Southeast if you are a Fan Member.

What does it mean to properly name images?

Accepted Answer

Properly naming images helps search engines such as Google bring your event to the top of the search results. Saving the image as a brief description helps Google determine that you are a legitimate event and bring up your information first. Example - traditional chili recipe.png, location of cookoff.jpg. Use letters, spaces, and numbers but no punctuation or special characters.

Why are cooks not registering for my cook off?

Adding as many details as possible to your cook off events helps Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is a way Google determines who is a legitimate search from spam. This is a free way to help get your events seen and at the top of search results so that more people will see your information.

What is the gallery?

The gallery is a collection of images from past cook offs and events. This is a great way to advertise your events by letting people know the atmosphere they can expect when joining or attending one of your cook offs. Use good quality JPG or PNG files and remember to make the file names user readable. e.g., "2025 southern chili cookoff.png" or "2025 chili cook off location.jpg"
